Soap Opera

Just when I thought things were going smoothly at work, things have taken a gradual turn. There are 6 temp workers working on this project: Matt, Lil, Nancy, Kristen, Shelly, and myself. Matt is a young graphic designer who likes to party and socialize. Lil is an older lady who is very sweet. Nancy is also older and from the looks of it, well-off and can't-bear-to-work-more-than-three-days-per-week; she actually said that during one of our discussions. Kristen is 19 or 20 and really nice, but very quiet. Shelly is 20, and coincidentally is the feature of this post.

Shelly clearly identified herself as 20 years old many times with her stories of getting into bars despite being carded. She married some guy in the military; her mom actually encouraged her to marry him while he was visiting from his duty (in a 2-day timeframe). Shelly is also the biggest drama queen in the universe. She still lives at home (despite being married), because her husband still isn't here, and flirts with Matt insanely using such maneuvers as "Oh! Sorry, I didn't mean to put my butt in your face!". She also made it very clear that when she drinks, she makes "bad decisions", and in the past was unfaithful. This girl clearly was not ready for marriage. Part of our job yesterday was to wait at the laser printer for a bazillion pages to come out. When they come out, we have to collate, staple, number, and organize them. She decided that her method was better, which was to let 5000 stack up, go in the other room, sit next to Matt, cause him to make 5000 mistakes by engaging in retarded banter with him, and then come back in an hour after the printer had overflowed with pages and then try to sort the crap. The 3 "younguns" (Kristen, Shelly, and Matt) were supposed to have a 30 minute lunch. They were at the Bristol Myers cafeteria for 90 minutes (no exaggeration). We can have an hour lunch if and only if we don't take any breaks. We took a couple breaks yesterday (before lunch too). Stay tuned to hear more boring-ass work gossip about the "Temps @ BMS".

Bristol Myers = Good Job

Well, the results are in now. I've decided that it's really cool to work at the almighty Bristol Myers Squibb company. It appears that for the next several days, my job is basically to look stuff up in a web browser, and then print out the material (through a different program). I'm not allowed to say what it is that we're printing, but don't worry, it isn't very interesting at all. After we print out all of the materials, I believe we're going to be entering some data into another database. This is what's going to fill up the rest of our time. My hours of work are 7:30a-4:00p Monday - Friday. I'm very tired right now, but once I get something to drink, I'll be on my way. I'm packing leftover Papa John's for lunch. Yum! More to come later!
