As an Industrial Arts teacher (not shop class, like I had previously thought), I'd say that the day was very smooth. My first concern was, "Oh no, a bunch of rowdy guys are going to make my life miserable." But in reality, they were well-behaved because there were no girls for them to show-off for (that's my theory anyway). I ended that sentence poorly ... my apologies. We watched some interesting videos on Ironworkers (brave bunch), an episode of Monster Garage where they turned a white 1990 Ford Mustange 5.0 GT convertible into a 100mph heavy-duty lawn-mower with green metal-flake paint (flame job included) and street pipes emitting real flames. Oh ... and a really boring show about various new cars and SUVs. The classes were Transportation I and Construction I. To top it off, I got to (re)meet and converse with a teacher from the past that Ryan would remember well. Larry Johnston! I also chose the right day to sub, because the Business Department held a nice Papa John's lunch for the Technology Department. I'm still stuffed! Hopefully, tomorrow will be this awesome.

Tip of the hat goes to Alek, who for once doesn't have anything about drinking or smoking on his blog! (Though, if he reads this, he undoubtedly will make a post to contradict my statement.) Glad to hear that he's buckling down hard on his work though. I may find myself at USI next semester that is, if all goes well. It'd sure be nice if I could find some large amounts of money sometime soon. Although I was previously worried that the holidays were going to bring me down this year, my chin is up, as I think everything is going to be just fine. *whew*

I ran the following sentence through the Babelfish, and following are the results:

Where can I find the nearest butcher knife?

English to Spanish:
¿Dónde puedo encontrar el cuchillo más cercano del carnicero?

Spanish back to English:
Where I can closest find the knife of the butcher?

English to French:
Où je peut le plus étroit trouver le couteau du boucher?

French back to English:
Where I can narrowest find the knife of the butcher?

English to German:
Wo ich kann am schmalsten das Messer des Metzgers finden?

German back to English:
Where can I most narrowly the knife of the butcher find?

English to Italian:
Dove può la I la lama del macellaio trovare il più stretto?

Italian back to English:
Where can the blade of the butcher find tightest?

English to Portuguese:
Onde pode a lâmina do carniceiro encontrar mais apertado?

Portuguese back to English:
Where the blade of the butcher can find pressed more?

The Babelfish can really mangle some translations. Today's example was a poor illustration. Perhaps I will provide a better example soon.
Phone rang at 7:15am this morning. It was Reitz wanting to know if I would sub for a Business Education class. I turned it down because of the sheer fact that I was extremely annoyed by how they asked. You know, the person could have called in the appropriate way, so that I could have been notified last night, or hell even this morning at 5:00am. The point is, I didn't have enough time to get ready, and I had just woken up. Calling me at the time when I should already be there isn't acceptable for me. They don't pay me enough to kill myself and get all stressed out. Oh well, I have work lined up the rest of the week already. Tomorrow, I'm subbing for Mr. Shelley again (North's Band Instructor), and then on Thursday and Friday, I'm subbing for Mr. Ship (Reitz's Industrial Arts teacher). Should be a whole lot of fun. ^_^

I'm wearing the shoes of a Chemistry teacher today. I'll be at Reitz inspecting their block scheduling first-hand. The job description (from the teacher himself) assured me that there would be no discipline problems. Sounds good! This is a small landmark occasion for me, because I haven't subbed at any other schools besides North.

Update: The day went very well, and I got off a little bit early. Turns out, the teacher had a planning period for the last hour and a half of school!

Just got back from seeing "Harry Potter: The Chamber of Secrets". It was way better than the first one, although there were a few parts that might actually be too scary for really young viewers. I hate spoiling movie plots, so I'll just say that it is very good. If you saw it already, what did you think?
